Guide to the New Collector Cards
TC User ID: @digital.nitrate
UPDATE: I'll be continually updating this with additional information, so if there is anything you wish for me to add don't hesitate to ask.
On August 12th, 2015, etermax released version 2.2 for Trivia Crack which included a new feature.. Collector Cards and Gems.
Here is the official announcement on Twitter.. but it really doesn't say much.
The first time someone turns on Trivia Crack after the update they should have seen a pop up message saying:
'Have you checked out your card collection yet? Click to learn more!'
If you click OK, it will take you to a hidden 'How To Play' set of menu screens. I say hidden, because currently the only way to see this in-game 'guide' on the cards is by clicking OK on that pop up message - which will never appear again unless you delete the app and reinstall. This is clearly a flaw, and that it should have been added to the normal 'How To Play' menu screens available in the Help menu.
Tamilrockers hd movie download. The guide is 6 pages long:
1) Gems
2) The Machine Room 3) The Machine Room (pt2) 4) Cards 5) Series/Prize Card 6) Activating a Bonus
In the meantime, I have made the entire official guide available by Clicking Here
Unfortunately, this official guide is not very clear on how this new feature works. In fact, on page 4 'Cards' it clearly says, and I quote:
'Gather cards and form a collection or trade them among your friends!'
The only problem is that they do not explain how to trade cards with friends, nor can anyone find any option in the game to trade cards. And so far no one at etermax has responded regarding this issue with the new cards. If you would like an answer, I suggest contact them directly at:
Hopefully if enough people keep asking about this issue they will eventually respond.
In the meantime, I thought I would share some of what I have learned about these cards in case others may find it helpful to know.
First of all, to check your cards, go to the home screen on TC where it lists your current games, and scroll down to below the list of games where it is your turn to play and above the games where it is your opponent's turn to play.
There you will see three card slots. This shows what 3 cards from your collection are active (or empty if you haven't added a card for that slot). You can currently only have 3 active cards at any one time. Thus Its better to collect a few cards with better bonuses rather than lots of cards with small bonuses.. this should make more sense later on.
You'll also see an option to 'View more', which opens your Album(collections of cards):
And when viewing your Album you can change the layout by clicking the grid icon located at the upper right side of the Album screen.
You can also click on any card in your collection to view it. On the card it will show the number, name, illustration, description, bonus, and the timer required to receive the bonus.
You also have the option to click 'GET MORE CARDS' which takes you to the card machine screen.
Here you will currently see *3 machines (Whimsical, Majestic, and Gnarly), each with a different number of cards, and different cost in gems for getting each card.
* Update v2.5 added a limited edition Xmas card machine on Dec 17. Click here for details about that machine.
* Limited edition New Year card machine was added on Dec 23. * Both machines expired after two weeks. * Monkey Year machine was added * Cupid's Arrow machine added * St. Patrick's machine added
The number shown just above the 'PUSH' button shows how many cards are left in that machine. To see how many cards of each different type are left in a machine just click on the '?' on that machine. (Gold, Aqua, and Common - the number of Black cards is hidden, but when you get one the counter for Common cards goes down 1)
In addition, in the upper left side of the screen you will also see how many 'Gems' you currently have.
To collect gems, simply answer questions in the game, or purchase them from the in-game store.
The official guide says you need to answer 50 questions to fill your 'gem-meter' in order to earn 1 gem, but in fact you get 2pts for every correct answer in a standard game. Only challenge questions are worth only 1 pt. So it is possible to fill your gem-meter with just 25 correct answers.
To collect a new card, click on the 'Push' button on the machine you want a card from. If you have enough gems to get a card from that machine it will do a short animation and then display the card you just received. The result is completely random, except for the first 3 cards from the Whimsical machine. The fist 3 cards from that machine so far have always been cards #3, #4, and #5 - thus completing that first series of cards 'The Originals' - as everyone starts off already having cards #1 and #2 in their collections.
My suggestion is to first use 3 gems to collect the first three cards from the Whimsical machine, then open your album and click on the Prize Card for the now completed 'Original' series. This will not only unlock the other two machines, but it will also give you your first Prize Card, which are hard to collect and generally have better bonus values.
There are currently 180 unique cards to collect from the three *standard card machines.
* There are additional cards from limited release card machines
576 cards are available from the standard machines, of which 148 are unique (not including the 2 everyone starts with), the rest are duplicates.
30 additional cards ('Prize Cards') can be unlocked, one for each series of cards as seen when you view your Album. These get a separate numerical value based on the series number they are in. So for instance, the Prize Card for The Originals series is numbered S01, as it is from the first series of cards.
The bonus for each card depends on what type of card it is (Common, Aqua, Gold, or *Black) and which machine it came from. The best cards are from Gnarly, but they also cost more in gems to collect.
* There is no mention of Black cards, but there are in fact 7 *standard Black cards:
Whimsical: Card #34
Majestic: Cards #54, #79, #111 Gnarly: Cards #118, #145, #147
* Limited release Xmas card machine has an additional Black card (#161)
* Limited release New Year card machine has an additional Black card (#171)
Their bonuses (in most cases) are far greater than any other cards that offer the same type of bonus (hearts, spins, coins, gems). Also, there are no duplicates for Black cards - so I don't suggest you trade them.
So that leads me to the question of how to collect these different bonuses.
First you must add a card to an empty slot or replace a currently active card with a new card. You can do that in two ways. Either click on a slot or click on a card from your Album.
If you click on an empty slot you will see an 'Add' option. Click on that and it will jump to your Album where you can then select the card you want to add.
If you click on a card from your Album you will see another 'Add' option, which if you click, will show the three slots to choose from - click on the one you want to use it in.
Once you add a card to a slot the bonus timer will automatically start. When the timer ends, you must click on that slot to receive the bonus as shown on the card and then the timer will start over. If you switch cards, the timer for the previous card is cancelled and starts over based on the new cards timer.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
BTW: You can also look at what cards other people have collected by simply clicking on their name to bring up their 'Profile' page, and here you will see that the update added 'Album' to the menu bar for every profile - located to the right of both 'Performance' and 'Achievements'. Simply click on Album or just swipe right twice and that user's card collection will appear.
It won't display any details about the cards or how many duplicates they have collected, nor will it even show the image of any of the Prize Cards they may have unlocked. However, by cross referencing your own Album, it's fairly easy to identify what cards they have.
Unfortunately, the update did not add the Album tag when viewing our own Profile page. The only way to view your own Album is from the Home screen and scrolling down to where it says Album. Hopefully they will fix this in a future update along with adding the initial gem & card guide to the Help screen, and adding the missing feature that would allow us to trade cards with friends.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
For those that like numbers and to get some idea how long it might take you to collect all the various cards, I've crunched some of the data for you:
You would need to use 1,462 Gems to empty all three machines of their cards:
![]()
254x1 = 254 Gems needed for the Whimsical Machine
201x3 = 603 Gems needed for the Majestic Machine 121x5 = 605 Gems needed for the Gnarly Machine
Thus at the very most, you would have to answer a whopping 73,100 challenge questions correctly to earn that many gems.
However, you can cut that number in half if you primarily play Classic 1vs1 games, and collect bonus gems using cards that reward gems.
In addition, we are suppose to be able to trade cards with friends, so once they fix/add that option, it would be possible to collect the 148 unique cards from the machines with far fewer gems. Especially if you have friends willing to trade one of their Gnarly cards for one of your Whimsical cards. In theory, it could be possible to collect all the cards in the game with as few as 148 gems, but I wouldn't count on that! Even if the traded cards are from the same machines, you'll still need at least 390 gems - and that would still require some very lucky trades.
Realistically, most people will likely need to use about 1,000 gems and still have to do some trading to get a complete collections of cards. The good news is it really doesn't take long to earn gems. Especially anyone that has unlimited lives who just does random challenge games. In that case you can expect to earn about 6 gems every hour of play.
You can also purchase gems, but considering the cost I definitely would not recommend it. As it is now, it would cost over $1,000 to purchase 1,462 gems!?!? O_o
Personally, I prefer 1vs1 games, and even then the gems are earned quickly as you get 2pt for every correct answer instead of just 1pt - and you can earn even more pts if you challenge your opponent for one of their characters. The difference there is that the games can be slow, so it's best to build up a bunch of games until you have a decent pace for the week. The downside is if you get busy you could be forced to forfeit several games. YMMV
Also, as you collect cards with better gem bonuses, if you add them to your slots you can start collecting gems without even playing. I currently get 20 gems a week just from my active cards.
Hopefully this should answer most questions regarding the new collector cards for TC.
Have fun and enjoy your games!
